Welcome to Nursery
Hi my name is Ms Alisha Scott, our blog page will have information on the interesting things that we have been doing in class and also details of the fantastic trips that we go on. Our latest year group newsletter can be found under the News and Events page. There you will find the work we are planning to do this term.

This Term our topic is traditional stories. We have read Goldilocks and the three bears and then made some delicious porridge. We also read The Three Little Pigs and worked collaboratively to make and decorate the houses for the pigs using junk modelling. We went on a trip to the woodlands farm trust. We sat and listened to a retelling of The Three Little Pigs and then worked in small groups to make straw, stick and brick houses. Then we went to look at what a real pig looks like.

This term we have been learning about People who help us. We have enjoyed role playing fire fighters in the outdoor area using hoses and fire trucks. Inside role playing doctors was our favourite. We worked collaboratively to make a fire truck using junk modelling and then painted it. For children in need we raised money by wearing our pyjamas to Nursery and had a special visitor come to see us. We also visited the local pet shop where we got to handle the guinea pig and learnt how to look after guinea pigs and also how to keep our class pet Benji healthy.

We have all settled well into our new Nursery and have been having fun learning our core text Owl babies. During story time we have enjoyed listening to the story and also watching videos of the story. We all know the story so well that we are able to retell the story using puppets. We made homes for our owl babies using leaves and twigs that we collected from our woodlands. We have been developing our fine motor skills by using tweezers and paintbrushes. We have been completing getting to know activities by using mirrors to look at our faces and then painting our faces on paper plates. One of our favourite activities is looking after our vegetable garden by watering the plants and we were able to dig up our very own potatoes. We made sure we washed them and they were then cooked for us to enjoy during milk and fruit time.
