Welcome to Year 2B2
Hi all, my name is Mrs Opha Robertson, our blog page will have information on the interesting things that we have been doing in class and also details of the fantastic trips that we go on. Our latest year group newsletter can be found under the News and Events page. There you will find the work we are planning to do this term.

We have been learning about The Great Fire of London. We have written diary entries, we have written recounts of the event that took place in 1666, we have listened to music that represents the fire at that time and discussed how we felt when we listen to it, we have made wooden style houses in art, we have shown empathy to those people at the time, we made timelines and we learnt and wrote about Samuel Pepys…phew!
Look at our lovely door display!
I liked learning about the wooden house. I like making them and putting the stripes around the windows."
I liked when we painted the fire in art. I liked mixing the colours to make different shades of orange and red to make the greedy fire look angry."
I liked learning about The Great Fire of London because it was exciting. I would have liked to live at that time because I would have liked to see what it looked like myself and to have written my own diary like Samuel Pepys."
At the moment we are looking at a new focus text called The Day The Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. This book is really funny. We recommend that you read it for yourself because we don’t want to give the story away.
In numeracy we have been learning our times tables, arrays, divisions and fractions. Some of us have found it challenging but we are determined to be maths champions! In science we have learnt lots about materials. Look out for our pictures.

This term has been busier than ever. We have learnt lots of lovely things and we have even been on another trip. How amazing! Our favourite part of our learning was writing stories based on the book Nat Fantastic. We got to make our own superhero. What happy children we were! We learnt key skills like onomatopoeia, using inverted commas and writing expanded noun phrases. In numeracy we have been learning our times tables, how to add using a number line, how to add using a blank number line and measuring and reading capacity, measures and weight…phew!
2 weeks ago we went on a trip to the planetarium. It was amazing. We helped the little bear find the big bear. The big bear was nowhere to be found however we were all fantastic detectives and found him in the stars. What great detectives we were! After the workshop we learnt that the Earth spins on an axis which is part of the reason why we have seasons.
For the winter fair, we created our own business. This is part of our enterprise. Our business was a photo booth. We have already named our product and have made a logo. Our next step is to do some market research to make sure our business is successful. We still have a long way to go but we believe it will be brilliant.
We hope to update you on our learning soon!
