Welcome to Year 1B

Hi all, my name is Ms Jahkera Haynes, our blog page will have information on the interesting things that we have been doing in class and also details of the fantastic trips that we go on. Our latest year group newsletter can be found under the News and Events page. There you will find the work we are planning to do this term.

Our Blog:

Created Wednesday 22nd February

This half term we visited Battersea Park Zoo in relation to our Science and Literacy topics. Although it was a wet and windy day, the children had fun learning about the different types of animals. They were also able to stroke a rabbit!

We made healthy pancakes in class, showing that we know one way to be Sugar Smart. For Literacy we read Mr Wolf’s Pancakes. So now we can write instructions for Mr Wolf’s book on how to make a healthy alternative.

Class 1B

Created Thursday 12th January

This half term the children have been to visit the National Portrait Gallery in relation to their Art topic. They explored portraits from the past and even had the chance to look at a portrait of Mary Seacole!

We have had lots of fun with our practical maths activities in 1B. Learning about measures can be hard work but the children were excited to find objects around the classroom that were shorter than a metre and others that were longer than a metre.

Welcome back to a new school year!

My name is Miss Haynes and I am looking forward to an exciting year for the new Year 1 children.

Recently we sent out a newsletter with all the important information for this school term and with the topics that we will focus on for our learning.

These are some of the activities we have taken part in so far:

Searching for our very own leaf man based on our class book.

Understanding the properties of everyday materials and working in groups to sort them.

We also had a fantastic time learning about toys from the past at the V&A Museum of Childhood.
