Our Blog:

Created Thursday 19th January

Firstly the nursery team would like to say a massive well done to our new nursery children. They have all settled extremely well and are really enjoying their nursery experience.

Our focus story this term has been the Owl baby’s story. The themes in this story have been used to support the children and their understanding through the transition period of starting nursery. To further support the learning around this topic we have engaged in discussions about when their mummy left them for the first time when they first started school. We spoke about their emotions and feelings during this time and what has helped them settle. We have enjoyed being creative and designing new nests for our growing baby owls. The nursery especially enjoyed collecting resources from the garden to make their nest unique.

Along with this topic we have been undergoing the theme getting to know you, which has allowed opportunities for the children to get to know their friends and what is unique and special about them all. This has also helped the children to develop positive working relationships with their adults and key workers.

To further support our learning around this area the nursery have made some excellent self-portraits that have been celebrated around the class room. They have displayed some excellent observational skills including detailed features such as eye lashes, eye brows, and eye-colour and hair styles which have been very impressive indeed.

The next topic nursery will explore is going to be people who help us, so please talk to your children about some of the services that support and help us such as Emergency services, dentist, doctors, teachers, transport employees ect to support their thinking and learning around this area. Kind reminder that our reading mornings are now on a Friday if you haven’t had a chance to attend please do come and enjoy an exciting reading session with your child and their friends.
