It seems like it has been such a long time since we last spoke to you. We have been so busy in Year 2 there has been no time to stop and chat. Well it has been a very busy half term the highlights are what we will share with you.
In English it has been so exciting. Miss Henny attended a course and we have been focusing on a story about an alien called Beegu. We have explored so much; we completed character descriptions and also some drama linked to the story. We love this picture and have really grown to love picture books. If you have some spare time please read the story as there are so many things to explore - bullying, feeling lost and alone and also belonging are a few themes we focused on. Science We have something exciting to share with you all. Guess what we had in our school? Can’t guess? Chicks! We actually watched the chicks hatch so that we could follow their life cycle journey. It was so fascinating. The chicks hatched after two days of being in school! It was amazing to watch and we learned so much from this experience. Observing changes that happened when some of the chicks hatched. This is day 2 of the chicks being at school. As you can see some of the chicks have hatched. The incubator that kept the chicks warm and at the correct temperature. The chicks had food and still needed warmth after 4 days of being at GG. The chicks huddled up together. Anti-Bullying Week We had our AFW which was linked to anti-bullying and also the British Values. We learned so much about bullying. We learned a method to beat the bullies – STOP, Talk and Walk! We created drama pieces about these. We had an anti-bullying showcase. All classes showcased something linked to anti-bullying. Our class made up a rap to Juju on that beat. (We know that our rap was the best!) Mr Gordon gave every class £20 to create something and make money for our enterprise. We decided to make biscuits. The pictures are below. We made £70 so thank you to all that bought our biscuits. They tasted delicious. Well these were some of the highlights of the fun learning that has taken place in our class. We will talk to you soon. If we do not talk to you before the New Year, have a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
