Hi everyone. We are having so much fun in Year 1 learning new things everyday.

We had application focus week when we learned about British Values and we also celebrated Anti-bullying week. Do you know what the British values are? We practise British values by treating each other with respect, showing tolerance for people of different religions, race, colour or creed, by not breaking the law or our school rules and by voting for our school advocates.

During Anti bullying week we made up our own poems and messages to tell people about verbal bullying. Did you know that words can hurt? If you say unkind things to someone and you do it everyday then that is bullying. You will leave them feeling hurt and sad.

We have also been learning about seasonal changes. The season is now autumn but soon it will be winter when it will get even colder. We have to wear a warm coat, a hat and a scarf to keep us warm.

Please take a look at some of the learning we have been doing.

Year 1

Created Monday 5th December 2016

Hello everyone! It is a brand new school year and we are in Year 1! It is lots of fun. We are learning to count and group things and are becoming good at adding up. Every morning we do Phonics and we get to write the sounds we are learning all over the playground. Our theme for this term is ‘All about me’ so we are talking and writing about ourselves. Did you know that we all belong to different groups? Some of the groups that we belong to are our family, our school and our friendship groups.

We have also been learning about everyday materials. We found out that some objects can be made from different materials. A spoon can be made from metal, wood or plastic. Some materials are hard and smooth like our pencils which are made from wood. Take a look at some of the things we have been learning
