Food Stories Exhibition

Created Wednesday 8th June

GGLV Parents and children took part in an austerity research project to find out where their food influences came from, how much they spent on food bills, type of food they ate and their thoughts related to food. It culminated on 24 May 2016 with an exhibition that included a bbq and wine reception held at Goldsmiths University of London, where all the contributions were displayed.

CAB Workshop

Created Wednesday 10th March

On Tuesday 8 March parents at the Coffee Morning had a another CAB sponsored workshop from Andrea and Beverly, who told them all about how to find a cheaper alternative to their current Energy supplier. The parents gained valuable information about what tariffs are, what comparison websites to go to and were even shown examples of how much money they could save by switching suppliers.

ESOL Session

Award ceremony

Created Monday 8th June

The Renaisi ESOL group started the workshop in January and completed their final session on the 3 June 2015 with an award ceremony at Grinling Gibbons. Both parents from Lucas Vale and Grinling Gibbons attended.

The group was setup to support parents who have English as a second language:

  • To learn English!
  • To build up their confidence
  • To take part in the school environment (e.g. parents evenings etc.)
  • To encourage and support their children
  • To feel included

Feedback from the parents/carers were very positive. They were very thankful for the chance to meet new people, make friends and build up their confidence. They did not want it to end! At the award ceremony each student expressed their gratitude and what the course had meant to them.

We’ve encouraged them to stay in touch with each other and we will continue to support them.
